WotLK Tailoring Guide: Turbo-Boost Leveling from 1 to 450

wotlk tailoring

The following guide will cover the complete leveling experience from level 1 to 450 for the tailoring profession. Specifically, this guide is relevant for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion of the game.

To follow this leveling guide, you will require the following materials listed at the end. These materials will be used and can either be purchased from the auction house or farmed yourself. To maximize profession leveling speed, have them all ready before starting the guide.

General Tailoring Tips

  • This guide expects you to have access to Grand Master tailoring trainers, which can be found in Howling Fjord/Borean Tundra. Subsequently, if you have access to these, you will have access to Master trainers in Hellfire Peninsula.
  • Don’t sell the crafted items right away. Many of them are required in future steps as materials. It is advised to complete each leveling expansion segment before clearing out your inventory.
  • You will need to travel a bit once you complete each bracket segment to receive training. If you are short on inventory space, use this time to store materials, so that for instance when you go to Outland for Master training, you only take the materials needed for that bracket (as outlined above).

Apprentice 1-75:

Steps

  • Start by crafting Bolt of Linen Cloth until you reach level 45. You will need 92 for later, so ensure you have at least this amount.
  • Craft Linen Belt until 70.
  • Craft 5 Reinforced Linen Cape or until 75.

Journeyman 75-125:

Steps

  • Craft 45 Bolt of Woolen Cloth. This will be needed for later.
  • Craft 12 Simple Kilt, or until you reach 110.
  • Craft 15 Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders until 125.

Expert 125-215:

Steps

  • Craft 199 Bolt of Silk Cloth to be kept for later.
  • Then craft 16 Azure Silk Hood until 160.
  • Craft 10 Silk Headband till 170.
  • Craft 5 Formal White Shirt till 175.
  • Then craft roughly 85 Bolt of Mageweave, or however many it takes to reach 185.
  • Craft 20 Crimson Silk Vest till 205.
  • Finish by crafting 10 Crimson Silk Pantaloons till 215.

Artisan 215-300:

Steps

  • Begin by crafting roughly 5 Orange Mageweave Shirt to reach level 220.
  • Craft 10 Blackweave Mageweave Gloves till 230.
  • Craft 20 Black Mageweave Shoulders to reach level 250.
  • Craft Bolt of Runecloth until you reach level 260. This should take about 176 to do the trick.
  • Craft 22 Runecloth Belt.
  • Finish by crafting 22 Runecloth Gloves until 300.

Master 300-350:

For this section you will need to purchase the Pattern: Netherweave Robe or Pattern: Netherweave Tunic from a tailoring NPC. These can be purchased from Eiin, the Specialty Tailoring Supplies vendor in Shattrath.

While you are there, you can also pick up Master training from Eiin. Additionally, should you choose not to receive training in Shattrath, Master tailor trainers can be found in Silvermoon City for Horde, the Exodar for Alliance, or in each faction's major base in Hellfire Peninsula.

Steps

  • Begin by crafting 185 Bolt of Netherweave for later. This should get you to level 325.
  • Craft 5 Bolt of Imbued Netherweave, or until you hit 330.
  • Craft 5 Netherweave Pants, and after 5 Netherweave Boots. This should get you to 340.
  • Finish by crafting 10 Netherweave Robe, or 5 Netherweave Robe and 5 Netherweave Tunic until 350.

Grand Master 350-450:

For this section, pickup Grand Master tailoring from the relevant trainer for your faction in either Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, or Dalaran.

Also, note that 440-450 is a bit of a realm-dependent leveling bracket. The items in this guide may not get you to 450, so you might have to purchase more. Depending on your server’s economy, you could craft Frostweave Bags or epic tailoring Gloves. Calculate beforehand which one will give you a greater profit.

Steps

  • Begin by crafting exactly 468 Bolt of Frostweave for later. If you don’t reach 375, continue doing so, but you won’t need any more than 468.
  • Craft 5 Frostwoven Belt and 5 Frostwoven Boots. This should get you to 385.
  • Craft roughly 11 Frostwoven Cowl until 395.
  • Craft 5 Duskweave Belt until 400.
  • Craft 10 Imbued Frostweave until 405.
  • Craft 5 Duskweave Wristwraps.
  • Craft 5 Duskweave Gloves. You should be about 415 by this point.
  • Depending on your level, craft 11 Duskweave Boots, or until you reach 425.
  • Craft 18 Frostweave Bag until you reach 440. These can be sold at the auction house afterward.
  • Now, you can either continue to craft Frostweave Bag until you reach level 450, which should take 120 to do the trick. Or you can craft 10 Spellweave Gloves, Moonshroud Gloves, or Ebonweave Gloves. Alternatively, the last 5 levels of this bracket can be obtained by crafting 5 Glacial Bag.

You should now be a grand master tailor with a profession level of 450. Go ahead and choose your endgame tailoring spec, which includes either Mooncloth, Spellfire, or Shadoweave. Furthermore, you can clean out what you don’t need from your inventory anymore (although you may want to hold onto Wrath items for future crafting purposes). Additionally, make sure to sell any items or resources on the auction house, if they tend to sell for more there than they do to a vendor. Especially the bags!
